Aim of the Programme

Istanbul Atlas University (English) Translation & Interpreting Department’s mission is to raise translators and interpreters that,
- are equipped with the 21st century skills,
- know the latest research methods and the means to access information,
- have understood how to realize self-development,
- are knowledgeable about the historical development of translation and interpreting,
- have a very good command of their native language, working language and their related cultures,
- speak a second foreign language at least at B1 level,
-have expertise in fields such as literature, economy, law, medicine, humanities and sciences, politics, international relations, media and information technology,
-are well aware of terminology to ensure quality and consistency in translation,
-can translate and interpret with an understanding of scientific methods in such fields,
-are well-equipped with information and translation technologies,
-attach utmost importance to international professional quality standards,
-are eligible for team work,
-are knowledgeable about the ethics and legislative framework of translation as a profession.
