| The mission of the Department of English Translation & Interpreting at Istanbul Atlas University is to train translators and interpreters who: -are equipped with the 21st century skills, -know the latest research methods and the means to access information, -understand the principles of lifelong learning and self-development, -have a solid understanding of the historical development of translation and interpreting, -have an excellent command of their native language and target language(s), as well as a strong grasp of their cultural background. -have at least a B2-level proficiency in a second foreign language, -possess field-specific knowledge in various disciplines such as literature, economics, law, medicine, social and natural sciences, political science, international relations, media, informatics, and technology. -can perform translation and interpreting within these fields by applying scientific methodologies. -are well-versed in terminology management to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality in translation, -are well-equipped with information and translation technologies, -attach utmost importance to international professional quality standards, -have strong teamwork skills, -have a strong command of the ethical and legal frameworks governing the translation profession. |
