Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to introduce the biomolecules that make up the body and to understand the functions of these biochemical materials in metabolism. In addition, students learn the basic knowledge of chemistry and the working principles of the biochemistry laboratory.
Course Content: Basic chemical information; Definition of biochemistry with the concepts of anabolism, catabolism and metabolism; Introduction to biological molecules and chemical bonds; Mono-di and polysaccharide information, common properties and metabolism of carbohydrates; Introduction of essential and non-essential amino acids, common properties of protein structures, importance and metabolism in the body; Common properties and working mechanisms of enzymes; Information about glycerol, triglycerides and fat molecules, common properties and metabolism of oils; Properties of vitamins, minerals and hormones; Introduction of nucleic acids, the concept of DNA, the importance and metabolism of nucleic acids; Knowledge of basic biochemical tests and their clinical importance.

1) They will be able to master the general chemical terminology.
2) Recognize the research field of biochemistry and know the functioning mechanisms of human metabolism.
3) They recognize biological molecules and have knowledge about the bonds these molecules form with each other.
4) They have information about glucose, which is the building block of carbohydrates. They know the common properties of carbohydrate compounds and the functioning characteristics of carbohydrate metabolism in the body.
5) They have information about amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. They know the common properties of protein compounds and the functioning properties of protein and amino acid metabolism in the body.
6) They know the common properties of enzymes and their metabolism in the body.
7) They have knowledge about oils. They know the metabolic properties of fats in the body.
8) They can distinguish the properties of vitamins, minerals and hormones. They have information about their metabolism.
9) They have information about nucleic acids, which are also the building blocks of DNA, which are the most important distinguishing characteristics of living things.
10) They know the intended use of basic biochemical tests and the clinical significance of these tests.

13) Graduates know the laws, regulations, legislation and professional ethical rules regarding their duties, rights and responsibilities as Anesthesiologist and act in accordance with these rules.
14) Graduates are aware of the duties and responsibilities of the anesthesia technician, have sufficient knowledge and skills, keep patient caregivers and people at the forefront, can perform active teamwork together with effective communication, and aim to constantly learn and improve the consumed information.
