Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to introduce the biomolecules that make up the body and to understand the functions of these biochemical materials in metabolism. In addition, students learn the basic knowledge of chemistry and the working principles of the biochemistry laboratory. |
Course Content: | Basic chemical information; Definition of biochemistry with the concepts of anabolism, catabolism and metabolism; Introduction to biological molecules and chemical bonds; Mono-di and polysaccharide information, common properties and metabolism of carbohydrates; Introduction of essential and non-essential amino acids, common properties of protein structures, importance and metabolism in the body; Common properties and working mechanisms of enzymes; Information about glycerol, triglycerides and fat molecules, common properties and metabolism of oils; Properties of vitamins, minerals and hormones; Introduction of nucleic acids, the concept of DNA, the importance and metabolism of nucleic acids; Knowledge of basic biochemical tests and their clinical importance. |
