Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The Career Planning course aims to help students to plan their careers according to their own traits as intelligence, personality, knowledge, skills, talents, and competencies. In this course, the awareness in these concepts will be developed, career centers which students will get help about their careers throughout their University life will be introduced and the services of career center will be explained, students will be informed about how they could use Yetenek Kapısı, and the work opportunities in different sectors will be presented.

The course aims to develop career awareness of students about the dynamics and expectations of business life, help them to plan their career after graduation by evaluating their learning processes in the best way, choose a job and profession in the fields that are suitable for their qualifications, and shape their careers in areas suitable for their own skills, abilities and competencies.
By the end of this course students will;

• Know the Career Centers and their services
• Increase self-awareness

• Develop their skills
• Discover activities which helps their career plan
• Know exchange programmes
• Know “Yetenek Kapısı”


Course Content: Career Planning begins with an effort to know oneself and discover one's potential. The content of this course will enable students to; It covers topics and activities that will help them gain awareness about their interests, personal characteristics and values, and help them plan a career compatible with their future goals.

1) Acquires the ability to interpret and evaluate data by using theoretical, conceptual, and applied knowledge in the field of Translation Studies within the framework of professional ethics.
2) Attains proficiency in English at C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR); acquires effective oral and written communication skills in both English and Turkish.
3) Plans and effectively manages projects individually or as part of a team by taking responsibility.
4) Effectively utilizes the necessary knowledge, skills, and/or information and communication technologies for presentations and/or translation practices.
5) Masters, analyzes, and applies the grammatical, lexical, semantic, and textual structures of source and target languages.
6) In addition to the program language, acquires and utilizes a second foreign language at least at B1 level with both linguistic and cultural aspects.
7) Accesses up-to-date information in the field and continuously improves themselves with the awareness of lifelong learning; analyzes problems and produces solutions through critical and creative thinking.
8) Possesses detailed knowledge of the reflections of English culture, history, and social structure in literature; recognizes literary genres, periods, and significant works in detail.
9) Masters the knowledge and terminology of different fields; comprehends, analyzes, and translates written and oral texts in A-B-C languages into A or B language according to their function.
10) Acquires a theoretical background in oral translation fields such as consecutive, simultaneous, conference, and community interpreting, and performs oral translation in accordance with ethical principles.
11) Analyzes and solves problems encountered in interpreting; effectively uses current techniques, tools, and equipment specific to the field.
12) Takes part in the planning, implementation, quality control, and management stages of translation projects; transfers theoretical knowledge into practice and effectively manages the process individually or within a team.
13) Conducts the stages of the research process including planning, literature review, data collection, and reporting; analyzes the obtained data and writes scientific reports.
14) Effectively uses computer-assisted tools and current technologies to achieve high-quality translation during the translation process.
15) Analyzes the translation process and strategies, questions translator decisions, and critiques translations in line with ethical principles and market expectations.
