Course Objectives:

To define define globally and nationally common nutritional problems, and the plans and policies developed to combat them also to provide basic practical knowledge for research planning and evaluation on this subject.

Course Content:

Nutritional problems and epidemiology seen in Turkey and in the world include protein-energy malnutrition, obesity, diet-related chronic diseases, iron deficiency anemia, iodine deficiency diseases, zinc deficiency, rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, vitamin deficiencies, folic acid deficiency, etc. and epidemiology, nutritional supplements and nutritional fortification, nutritional genomics in public health, national food and nutrition plans and policies, epidemiological research methods and research planning

1) Explains the definition, historical development and areas of use of epidemiology and nutritional epidemiology.
2) Explains health measures used in epidemiology.
3) It lists the nutritional problems that are common in the world and in our country and the methods of detecting nutritional problems.
4) Has sufficient knowledge about the definition, risk factors, epidemiology and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
5) Explains international and national practices and health policies that can be implemented to prevent NCD and Nutrition problems.
6) It defines the planning of a scientific research, data sources and causes of errors during data collection, research methods and purposes of use.
