Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to enable students to learn and critically discuss theoretical approaches to translation. This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to develop critical thinking, comparison and questioning skills in translation processes and translation.
Course Content: This course is carried out both theoretically and practically. During the course, various theoretical issues that affect the translator's preferences will be covered, and students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills will be developed through various translation activities during the course.

1) Will learn the development of descriptive translation theories in the historical development process from antiquity to the end of the 20th century.
2) The representatives of each theory will be learned and analyzed.
3) Examples will be analyzed in line with the theories of each theorist.
4) The students will be able to use translation criticism terminology appropriately and correctly.
5) The students will be able to define the problems arising from the text type, cultural and structural differences during translation criticism.
