Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to increase the knowledge and attention of physiotherapy technician candidates who will serve the elderly people who will be encountered in the clinic by emphasizing the changes in geriatric individuals.
Course Content: The concept of aging; Aging theories; Basic physical needs and movement in the elderly; Vital signs in the elderly; Using the hot and cold modalities; Nutrition in the elderly; Communication, sleep and hygiene; Negligence, care problems and palliative care in the elderly.

1) Knows the definitions of aging and the physiological changes that occur with aging.
2) Knows the vital signs observed in the elderly.
3) Knows the principles of hygiene rules, sleep quality, nutrition and medication in the elderly.
4) Be aware of the communication problems that may develop in the elderly and negative situations that may arise such as neglect and abuse, and take precautions.
5) Has knowledge about palliative care principles in the elderly.

8) Graduates have knowledge of electrotherapy program, massage applications and basic health protective exercise applications used in healthy, disabled and individuals who require physiotherapy. Graduates can apply these practices under the supervision of a physiotherapist and/or physician when necessary.
9) Graduates know the laws, regulations, legislation and professional ethical rules regarding their duties, rights and responsibilities as a Physiotherapy Technician and act in accordance with these rules.
10) Graduates can inform the relevant people and institutions by using their basic knowledge and skills in the field of physiotherapy.
11) Graduates can follow current developments in their field and discuss with their colleagues using a foreign language.
12) Graduates can work as a team member to solve unforeseen and complex problems encountered in applications related to the field of physiotherapy.
