Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to inform about hydrotherapy and balneotherapy methods applied in the different areas of physiotherapy, to enable the distinction of indication and contraindication in their use as a treatment and to teach the application of these methods.
Course Content: The history of hydrotherapy and balneotherapy in the world, usage areas in our country, usage areas as treatment; Viewing the physical properties of water and heat and their therapeutic effects, usage areas of hydrotherapy; Systemic effects of hydrotherapy and hydrotherapy in edema treatment; Whirlpool baths; Sitting and butterfly baths; Opposite baths; Uses and fields of balneotherapy; Showers, baths, gas baths, peloids as external application in balneotherapy; Inhalation, drinking, mineral water as internal application in balneotherapy; Knowledge of sulphate, iron, sulfur, radon, bicarbonate waters and natural mineral spring waters, halotherapy and fluidotherapy as thermomineral applications; Spa, thalassotherapy and climatherapy knowledge; Aquatherapy applications; Spa treatment.

1) Knows the history of hydrotherapy and balneotherapy, their purpose of use and their mechanism of action.
2) They know the systemic effects of hydrotherapy and balneotherapy applications and their effects on edema.
2 - Skills
Cognitive - Practical
1) They take necessary security measures during the applications.
2) Has information about hydrotherapy applications such as whirlpool, butterfly, sitting and opposite baths. When necessary, they perform these applications under the supervision of a physician or physiotherapist.
3) They know the internal and external methods of balneotherapy applications, and they practice their applications.

1) Distinguish between indicated and contraindicated hydrotherapy and balneotherapy applications.
2) Knows about Aquatherapy. When necessary, she / he performs these applications under the supervision of a physician or physiotherapist.
3) Has information about thermomineral applications, halotherapy, fluidotherapy. When necessary, she / he performs these applications under the supervision of a physician or physiotherapist.
4) Knows about thermal spring therapies. When necessary, she / he performs these applications under the supervision of a physician or physiotherapist.
5) Has information about spa, thalassotherapy and climatherapy. When necessary, she / he performs these applications under the supervision of a physician or physiotherapist.

9) Graduates know the laws, regulations, legislation and professional ethical rules regarding their duties, rights and responsibilities as a Physiotherapy Technician and act in accordance with these rules.
10) Graduates can inform the relevant people and institutions by using their basic knowledge and skills in the field of physiotherapy.
11) Graduates can follow current developments in their field and discuss with their colleagues using a foreign language.
12) Graduates can work as a team member to solve unforeseen and complex problems encountered in applications related to the field of physiotherapy.
13) Graduates can critically evaluate the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field of physiotherapy.
