Course Objectives: | This course aims to introduce visual arts and literary texts reflecting illnesses and various health conditions. The course also provides an awareness about two interrelated fields: medicine and humanities. The texts to be studied by the students are carefully chosen to stimulate and enhance students’ critical thinking, comprehension and interpreting skills. Throughout the semester, students will have a chance to question the meaning and nature of being a human, the relation between human beings and the universe, and how authors and artists from different fields experience and represent pain, physical, psychological and emotional suffering in life. |
