Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The primary objective of this course is to provide an in-depth examination of the etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical classifications of cerebral palsy (CP) and other childhood neurological disorders. The course aims to enable students to assess accompanying language, speech, feeding, and swallowing disorders within the framework of differential diagnosis, develop evidence-based intervention strategies, and understand the role of the speech and language therapist within a multidisciplinary team.
Course Content: Definition, prevalence, and risk factors of cerebral palsy; clinical presentation according to motor types (spastic, dyskinetic, ataxic, mixed); childhood dysarthria and speech motor control disorders; neurogenic language disorders; pediatric dysphagia and safe feeding strategies; planning of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems; early intervention approaches in neurological disorders; the impact of comorbid cognitive and sensory deficits on communication; case management within the framework of the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health).
