Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: This course aims to teach the fundamental principles, physiological effects, and clinical applications of heat, light, and hydrotherapy modalities used in physiotherapy. It aims to help students understand the effects of these agents at the cellular and tissue levels, comprehend their roles in inflammation, pain, and wound healing processes, and learn the applications of superficial thermal agents, light therapies (infrared, ultraviolet, laser), as well as hydrotherapy and balneotherapy methods. Additionally, students will gain knowledge of the indications and contraindications for their safe and effective use.
Course Content: The course first examines fundamental biological processes by addressing cellular and tissue structures, the inflammation process, pain mechanisms, and wound healing. It then focuses on the physical properties of heat and light, the physiological effects of superficial thermal agents, infrared and ultraviolet light therapies, as well as the applications of hot packs, paraffin, and cryotherapy. The fundamental principles of hydrotherapy are explored in detail, along with techniques such as aquatherapy, fluidotherapy, whirlpool, showers, and butterfly baths. Additionally, specialized hydrotherapy applications, including balneological treatments, thalassotherapy, and peloid therapy, are discussed. The course aims to enhance students' practical skills by incorporating hands-on techniques alongside theoretical knowledge.

1) Explains the concepts and principles related to the field of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, physiotherapy assessment and treatment processes, defines the role of physiotherapy in the development and maintenance of health.
2) Tells the laws, regulations and legislation regarding the professional duties, rights and responsibilities of the physiotherapist within the health system.
3) Determines and applies the needs of healthy, sick and disabled individuals with appropriate measurement and evaluation methods using the knowledge of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
4) Plans, implements, makes the necessary changes, terminates and reports the individual-centered physiotherapy and rehabilitation program within the ethical framework by analyzing and synthesizing the data obtained by field-specific evaluations.
5) With the knowledge of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, works and takes responsibility as a member of the transdisciplinary team in professional and academic studies to improve the health and quality of life of the society and the individual by using technology and evidence-based current approaches.
6) To be able to use information resources effectively by adopting the principle of lifelong learning, to combine new knowledge with existing knowledge with a critical and analytical perspective and to reflect it to professional life.
