Course Objectives:

Course Description: In this course, knowledge and skills regarding the concepts, physiological changes, diseases, nursing approaches and practices required for the development and protection of the health of the family, the woman, the fetus and the newborn according to their life stages, treatment-care and rehabilitation in case of illness are discussed with a holistic approach.

Course Purpose: In this course aims to provide knowledge, skills and competence about structure of the reproductive system, its functions and deviations from health, protection from diseases affecting reproductive/sexual health, maintaining and improving well-being, nursing interventions for special situations and affecting diseases of functions related to sexual health (SH) and reproductive health (RH).

Course Content:

Concepts related to women and reproductive health and an overview of women's health, Anatomy and Physiology of the Reproductive System, Physiology of Sexual Act, Formation of Pregnancy and Physiology of the Fetus / Mother, Preparation for Parenthood and Prenatal Care, Risky situations common in pregnancy, Birth and postpartum period and care , Fertility Control, Women's health in the climacteric period, Female-specific cancers and nursing care, student group studies:

GROUP 2: Improving sexual and reproductive health in young people
GROUP 3: Religion and women
GROUP 4: Women's human and SH/RH rights

1) 1. Define the concepts of sex and gender, sexual health and reproductive health (SH/RH). 2. Understands the importance of SH/RH in women's health in the world and in Turkey. 2. Understands the importance of SH/RH in women's health in the world and in Turkey. 3. Explains nursing interventions to protect and improve women's health. 4. Discuss women's health problems and nursing approaches according to life periods of woman. 5. Explains the mechanism of physiological changes seen in the woman's reproductive system in perinatal period. 6. Knows the psycho-social changes that can be seen in the woman and her family during the perinatal period and the nursing approaches to these changes. 7. Provides evidence-based care to a pregnant woman before, during and after birth, in line with the nursing process (data collection, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation). 8. Explains nursing approaches to women's gynecological and gynecological-oncological health problems. 9. Understands the mechanism of physiological and psychosocial changes in women's menopause and advanced age and nursing approaches. 10. Recognizes the importance of social issues affecting the physical and psycho-social health of healthy/sick women. 11. List the postnatal care needs of the newborn. 12. Plans and delivers training on women's health protection and promotion
