Course Objectives: |
At the end of this course, the student will be able to understand the strategic role of operations in all types of organizations with a main focus on production, study the elements of the production systems, and discuss applications across a range of production segments. This course will enable the student to develop an understanding of the importance of links between customer needs and production design. In addition, the student will be able to develop analytical skills necessary to design and improve production operations as well as to understand inventory concepts, Just-in-Time and supply chain management. |
Course Content: |
Introduction to production management, competitiveness, strategy, and productivity concepts, product design, strategic capacity planning for products, process design, selection and facility layout, line balancing, location planning and analysis, management of quality and quality control, inventory management and control, supply chain management, JIT and lean operations. |
