Course Objectives:

In this course, it is aimed to learn the concepts of sterilization and disinfection, sterilization and disinfection methods, sterilization control, quality criteria, the steps of the sterilization process, the features of the central sterilization unit and the operations performed.

Course Content:

Sterilization and disinfection concepts, definitions and abbreviations. Spaulding classification, factors affecting disinfection. Disinfection methods, high, medium, low level disinfectants, antiseptics. Effective factors in cleaning, cleaning principles. Sterilization and disinfection differences and usage areas. Sterilization methods, control, quality criteria. The steps of the sterilization process and the features of the Central Sterilization Unit and the operations done here.

1) Learns the concepts of sterilization and disinfection, makes the distinction. Knows the definitions and abbreviations used.
2) Can make Spaulding classification, knows the factors affecting disinfection.
3) Knows disinfection methods.
4) He can classify disinfectants as high, medium, low level so that he can use appropriate disinfectants in the work area.
5) Learns the effective factors and cleaning principles in cleaning.
6) Distinguish the sterilization and disinfection differences and know their usage areas.
7) Learns the sterilization methods and knows and applies the procedures to be done in sterilization control.
