Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to explain the concepts in General Biology to learn them and to form a basis for the lessons to be taken in the next semesters.
Course Content: Introduction to biology, chemistry of life, cell, bioenergetics, genetics, biodiversity, plant structure and function, animal tissues and biology, environment and ecology, biotechnology, cancer biology are the contents of this course.

Theoretical - Conceptual
1) The importance of biology, the discovery of life, the basic knows its features.Recognizes and uses the materials in the biology laboratory.
2) Knows plant biodiversity, the importance of plant biodiversity and ways to protect it
3) Gains knowledge about the general characteristics of animals and the diversity of animal species.
4) Have knowledge about plant and animal tissues structure and biology.With the lancet, they take blood from the finger and determine the blood group.
5) Learns the basic concepts of environment and ecology, understands the importance
6) Learns the importance of biotechnology, the molecular mechanism of cancer formation and the causes of cancer, knows the risk factors.
2 - Skills
Cognitive - Practical
1) Knows the chemical content of living things, learns the structure and functions of macromolecules. Performs protein, carbohydrate and lipid determination tests using reagents in the laboratory environment.
2) Learns the definition of the cell, its general features, types, and ways of transporting substances through the cell membrane. Examines plant and animal cells under a microscope in a laboratory environment. Observes plasmolysis, deplasmolysis and osmosis events.
3) Learns the energy ecosystem, chemical bond energy, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, fermentation. Performs photosynthesis experiment in laboratory environment
4) Have knowledge of the content of genetics. In the laboratory, prepares a Mitosis preparation and examines it under a microscope.

1) Have basic knowledge about normal structure-functions of human systems.
2) Gains knowledge about the workflow and organization in medical laboratories.
3) Have basic theoretical and applied knowledge about the field.
4) Knows manual and automatic analysis methods in the Medical Laboratory and produces solutions in case of malfunctions.
5) Takes the samples that the specialist physician deems necessary from the patient in an appropriate way, and performs the sample transfer under appropriate conditions.
6) Performs routine examinations in the medical laboratory, follows the sample, concludes the analysis and establishes the relationship with the diseases.
7) Accurately obtains the findings, organizes them, presents them for sharing and use in accordance with the purpose.
8) Takes safety precautions in the medical laboratory, applies personal safety rules and creates a safe laboratory environment.
9) In the working environment; applies first aid and emergency care in accordance with the guide/directive in emergency situations.
10) Takes responsibility in a given task and carries it out individually and takes responsibility in working groups when necessary.
11) Gains proficiency in recognizing devices related to the field and fixing simple problems.
12) It carries out the necessary activities for the professional development of the employees under its responsibility.
