General Information

The main feature of the education applied in Istanbul Atlas University Faculty of Medicine is that the courses are given according to the subjects, not the departments in the periods I, II and III. In this educational system called integrated system, a certain subject, such as the circulatory system, is dealt with and basic medical sciences such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and clinical sciences related to each other and are given in a certain order. In this system, the artificial distinction between different disciplines and pre-clinical and clinical issues is largely eliminated. Basic sciences are given to students in the first term of medical education, and basic principles of normal human biology and microbiology are given in the second term. In the third period, systems are discussed in terms of physiopathology, pathology, pharmacology and clinical sciences. The fourth and fifth semesters of medical education are reserved for clinical internships. In addition to studies on patients, clinical training and lectures, seminars are also held in the wards. The sixth year is the internship period before graduation. During this period, students prepare themselves for medicine by taking responsibility under the supervision of faculty members and experts.
