Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: To train nurses who can use the basic knowledge and principles of public health and nursing science in line with the health needs of the society, and who protect, develop and maintain the health of the individual, family and society and protect them from diseases by assuming professional nursing roles.
Course Content: This course focuses on protecting, maintaining and improving individual, family and community health in line with the basic knowledge and principles of public health and public health nursing science. Students taking the course gain knowledge and skills regarding the basic roles of public health nurses and their specific roles and functions in their areas of practice (family, school, workplace, elderly care and home care).

1) Knows the basic concepts of public health and public health nursing science.
2) Public health and public health nursing reflect the basic concepts of science into their practices.
3) Understands the structure and functioning of the national health care system
4) Knows the Omaha System, one of the international nursing classification systems.
5) Uses the Omaha System in public health nursing practices
6) Knows healthcare and nursing roles in extraordinary situations
7) Explains the roles of the public health nurse in public health nursing practice areas (family health, school health, occupational health, elderly health, community mental health and home care).
8) Determines the priority health problems of the society
9) Plans and implements nursing interventions at the individual, family and community levels
10) Plans health programs that protect and improve health
11) Provides health education, counseling and guidance to individuals, families and communities
12) Collaborates with other health disciplines, colleagues, and community leaders.
