Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course to students; In line with the principles, standards and
practices of mental health and nursing, it is to develop and protect the mental
health of healthy individuals, to provide care, counseling, rehabilitation and
psychological support for biopsychosocial needs of individuals with mental
health disorders and their families, and to gain knowledge and skills for
developing positive interpersonal relationships.
Course Content: This course; historical development of psychiatric nursing, basic concepts,
personality development, developmental stages, defense mechanisms, psychiatric
schools, definition of mental health and disorder, community mental health,
psychosomatic factors affecting physical conditions, psychosomatic diseases,
consultation liaison psychiatry, communication in special cases, schizophrenia
and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety,
somatoform and dissociative disorders, emergency psychiatry, alcohol and
substance addiction, child mental health, organic mental disorders, sleep
disorders, eating disorders, sexual dysfunctions, psychiatric treatment.

1) The definition of psychiatric nursing, purpose, and function in line with the philosophy compares psychiatric nursing education and practice in the world and Turkey.

2) Gives care to individuals with impaired mental health with a holistic approach in line with the nursing process.
3) To be able to apply the treatment of individuals with impaired mental health and to follow the side effects
