Course Objectives: | In line with the basic concepts and theories of surgical nursing, the aim is to provide knowledge, skills and behavior in determining the care needs of the surgical patient and their family with a holistic approach before, during and after the surgical intervention, making a nursing diagnosis, planning appropriate nursing interventions, implementing them and evaluating their results. To provide students with the knowledge, skills and behavior to communicate effectively with the patient and their family as well as other health professionals. |
Course Content: | This course includes advanced knowledge and practices about pre-, intra- and post-operative nursing care for surgical patients, current approaches to the wound healing process and treatment/care, post-operative acute pain management, surgical infections and their precautions, treatment/care principles and surgical patient nutrition. |
