Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: By ensuring that students have knowledge about the behaviors and relationships of humans, who are biopsychosocial beings, they can be productive, happy and satisfied through successful relationships in both their personal and professional lives: First of all, they need to know themselves and develop interpersonal relationship skills that will be effective, useful and helpful in a holistic approach to sick and healthy individuals. It is aimed for students to develop the desired behaviors with the necessary principles, methods and technical knowledge so that they can use them effectively.
Course Content: This course includes the process of communication, its elements and characteristics, types of communication, communication obstacles, communication models, self-awareness, human behavior, understanding people, therapeutic and non-therapeutic communication methods, recognizing and managing difficult people, coping with stress and communication with individuals with special situations.

1) 1.Students will understand the theories of communication and interpersonal relations, key concepts, and the importance of communication in human life and profession.

1) Able to evaluate own listening behavior and use effective listening behavior
2) Able to convey feelings, thoughts and wishes through I language
3) Learn the principles, methods and techniques that will improve the therapeutic relationship between the patient and the healthcare professional.
4) Ability to adapt communication skills to interpersonal and patient-health professional relationships
5) Able to communicate effectively with individuals in special situations encountered in daily and professional life.
6) Able to gain the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare team members and patient families.

1) Students will be able to demonstrate giving feedback in accordance with the principles of effective feedback.
2) Students will gain the ability to recognize communication barriers in interpersonal relationships.

1) Understand the importance of knowing oneself in terms of interpersonal and patient-health professional communication.
2) Become aware of feelings and thoughts that prevent you from acting assertively.
3) Be able to recognize the effects of different life periods on human relations
4) Be able to develop effective solution strategies for conflicts experienced in interpersonal and patient-health professional relationships.
5) Learn the principles, methods and techniques of constructive interaction in relationships and communication with healthy or sick individuals.

2) Have the ability to identify, define, decide, problem-solve, problem-solving, critical thinking, and leadership skills in midwifery practice and selects and applies appropriate analysis and intervention approaches.
3) Have the ability to understand, interpret, and solve problems related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care of women and newborns with a holistic perspective and contemporary methods.
4) To have strong communication and effective working skills both within and between disciplines individually.
5) Takes at least two out-of-field courses in the education program.
6) Have the ability to develop, select, and use up-to-date and functional tools related to the midwifery profession, as well as the ability to use information technologies effectively.
7) Have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Turkish and knows at least one foreign language.
