Course Objectives:

To provide students with knowledge and skills about risky situations during the birth process, dangers for mother and baby, preparation of mother for birth, appropriate intervention, risks of preterm and postterm labor in postnatal period.

Course Content:

"This course will teach the student; Preparing midwife for Intervention Delivery (Vacuum, Forceps, Cesarean Section), Pain Mechanism Anomalies (Pain Weakness, Irregular Uterus Contractions), Uterus Tetany, Fetal Distress, Partus Precipitatus, Premature Labor, Prolonged Labor, Surtrauterine Delivery. Death, Deflexion Arrivals (Bregma Arrival, Forehead Arrival, Face Arrival), Other Types of Beginning (Occipito Posterior Arrival, High Straight Posture, Deep Transverse Position, Breech Arrivals (Definition, Types, Causes, Diagnosis, Delivery Mechanism), Birth Techniques in Rectal Arrivals, Rectal It teaches conceptual and applied information about the Dangers of Presentations, Transverse and Oblique Presentations, Complications Seen in the Third Stage of Delivery, Postpartum Hemorrhages in Early and Late Periods, Sheen Syndrome.

1) Identifies the risk factors for mother and newborn in the early period after birth and after birth.
2) Provides care to mother and newborn during risky delivery and early postnatal period.
3) Runs the referral chain in risk situations.
4) Takes necessary steps in risky labor.
5) Notices signs of postpartum bleeding in the early period.
6) Gives appropriate care for postpartum hemorrhages.
7) Keeps records of the observations and practices made at birth and after birth
8) It notices the signs of infection in the early period in the postpartum period.
9) Gives appropriate care in case of infection.
10) Provides health education on subjects that mother and family need.
11) She advises the mother and her family in line with the knowledge gained.
