Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: This course provides students; Physiology and phases of normal birth, body's response to birth, birth pain, mother's preparation for delivery, follow-up in the first, second and third stages of labor, evaluation and follow-up of mother and baby, initiation of breastfeeding in early postpartum period, episiotomy application, care of mother in postpartum period to gain relevant skills.
Course Content: "This course will teach the student; physiological, psycho-social changes in the mother during the birth and postpartum period, the necessary interventions for the protection, development and maintenance of the mother's and newborn's health, supporting the family's coping difficulties in adapting to the parenting process, the mother's and her baby's own health care responsibility. teaches the knowledge and skills required for the acquisition conceptually and practically.

1) Defines the normal birth process.
2) Understands the role and importance of midwives in birth.
3) To be able to tell the factors that play a role in labor.

8) Gives midwifery care with a holistic approach that focuses the woman in the birth stages.
9) Evaluates the physical aspects of the newborn in the early postpartum period.

11) Explains and evaluates the anatomical and physiological changes in the mother's genital organs and other organs and systems during the involution process in the postpartum period.

3) Have the ability to understand, interpret, and solve problems related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care of women and newborns with a holistic perspective and contemporary methods.
4) To have strong communication and effective working skills both within and between disciplines individually.
5) Takes at least two out-of-field courses in the education program.
6) Have the ability to develop, select, and use up-to-date and functional tools related to the midwifery profession, as well as the ability to use information technologies effectively.
