Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course; To provide students with sufficient knowledge and skills in geriatric nursing. In addition, to define the theory and concepts of aging, problems related to the process, physiological and psychological changes, to learn appropriate nursing interventions, to explain the legal and ethical dimension in elderly care.
Course Content: Gerontology nursing, theories of aging, Age-Related Changes in System Functions and Nursing Care, Mental Health Problems and Nursing Care, Pharmacotherapy, Geriatric Syndromes, Psychosocial Requirements and Health Care Organizations in the Elderly, Ethical and Legal Issues in the Elderly, Geriatric Rehabilitation, Quality of Life of the Elderly Person

1) On the basis of undergraduate qualifications, to develop and deepen their knowledge at the level of expertise, to integrate the comprehensive knowledge gained from the disciplines related to the field of internal medicine nursing
2) Using the theoretical and applied knowledge gained in the field of internal medicine nursing, taking a role as a case manager in solving the problems of the individual, family and society related to the field, creating new information by integrating the information in the field with the information from different disciplines, solving the problems that require expertise by using scientific research methods, use advanced information and communication technologies
3) 1. To be able to systematically convey the current developments in the field and their own studies to groups in and outside the field, in written, verbal and visual formats, by supporting them with quantitative and qualitative data. 2. To be able to critically examine and develop social relations and the norms that guide these relations, and to take action to change them when necessary. 3. To be able to use information and communication technologies at an advanced level along with computer software at the level required by the field.
