Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The course aims to develop the ability to analyze the health and health care as a sociological phenomenon. In this context it also aims to review various topics pertinent to the social and cultural organization of health, illness and medicine.
Course Content: This lesson covers the medical profession, the social context of health and illness, the definition of health and illness, the social causes of illness, disability, doctor-patient relations, health institutions, health management and institutionalization.

1) Explain the basic structure, development and normal functioning of the human body at the level of molecules, cells, tissues, organs and systems.
2) Questions the abnormal structure and functioning of the human body, explains it with information based on qualified scientific research, evaluates the causes of diseases by considering the interaction with the individual and his environment.
3) Evaluates clinical decision making and management processes of diseases under the guidance of evidence-based medicine practices.
4) Defines the concepts of health and disease in individual and social contexts, explains health seeking and health protection behaviors, national health service delivery and administrative processes.
5) Knows the research processes that form the basis of medical knowledge, has a level of foreign language knowledge to follow the developments in this field.
6) Takes medical history from the applicant/patient and their relatives.
7) Performs physical examination of individuals, evaluates diagnostic tests, manages diagnosis and treatment processes by using appropriate process steps.
8) Applies medical interventions to individuals for diagnosis, treatment or prevention.
9) Plans and realizes practices for the protection and improvement of health in individual and social dimensions.
10) Plans a scientific research, implements and evaluates the results.
11) Demonstrates lifelong learning behavior by making use of scientific and technological developments for professional and social changes.
12) Fulfills its responsibilities as a physician within the framework of professional values, ethical principles and legal regulations, regardless of language, religion, race, gender, social and cultural discrimination in the individual and society it serves.
