Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: Many psychiatric disorders are seen as comorbidities in childhood nephrological diseases. While some of these comorbidities are considered as the result of chronic disease, some of them include psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and cognitive disorders that may develop due to the treatments used for the current disease. In addition, one of the most common difficulties in this area is the regulation of psychotropic drug use in case of kidney failure. Since renal failure may affect drug pharmacokinetics in different ways, in this case, information should be obtained about the drugs that need dose adjustment. In both rheumatology and nephrology, a multidisciplinary approach is required for differential diagnosis, detection and treatment of comorbid psychiatric disorders, evaluation and management of drug side effects.
Course Content: Rheumatological and nephrological diseases are disorders that are common in childhood, can show a wide distribution in terms of clinical findings, and significantly affect the quality of life and functionality of children. Rheumatological diseases can be examined in two parts: inflammatory rheumatological diseases and non-inflammatory connective tissue diseases. From the perspective of child-adolescent mental health, inflammatory rheumatological diseases are mostly associated with immune system dysfunction, and it is important that they have common etiopathogenesis with psychiatric diseases and often accompany these diseases with psychiatric comorbidity. The non-inflammatory group is one of the common causes of childhood recurrent pain, and somatic symptoms due to pain.
