Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives:	The aim of this course is to form the basis of midwifery care to be given by midwifery students in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge.
Course Content:	This course includes the functioning of NICU, patient admission, procedures, practices in the unit, midwifery care of the newborn in the intensive care environment, family participation in care and ethics.

1) Admits patients to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
2) Knows midwifery care priorities in NICU.
3) Gives midwifery care to the newborn in the delivery room.
4) Performs physical examination of the newborn and provides thermoregulation.
5) Can monitor the newborn.
6) List the nutritional principles of the newborn.
7) Provides transport and discharge of newborn in NICU.
8) Apply neonatal resuscitation attempts.
9) Establishes the relationship between newborn and family within ethical limits.
