Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of the lesson for each student;
Understand the interaction of cognitive neuroscience with other sciences, learn about the structure and function of the nervous system, learn about brain recording, stimulation and imaging methods, learn about cognitive functions such as perception, attention, memory, and learn the relationship between language and other cognitive skills. .
Course Content: Learning the research areas of cognitive neuroscience, recognizing the methods used in research and clinic, learning the structure of the brain and how it works, learning the relationship between language and other cognitive functions.

1) The general aim of this course is to develop the student's understanding of the structure and functioning of the nervous system and its contribution to speech, language and cognition.
2) At the end of this course, the student; will be able to master the basic terminology of cognitive neuroscience.
3) He / she will recognize the recording, stimulation and imaging methods used in the field of cognitive neuroscience and have knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of these methods.
4) Understand the importance of critical thinking in the field of cognitive neuroscience and understand the relationship between cognitive neuroscience and other sciences.
5) Understand and explain the roles of various cognitive functions such as attention, memory, perception, and their interactions with language functions.

2) Ability to detect, identify, interpret, formulate and solve speech, language, voice and swallowing problems; ability to select and apply appropriate analysis and intervention approaches for this purpose.
3) Ability to understand and interpret a process, event, case, equipment or product and to solve related problems with a holistic perspective and contemporary methods.
4) Ability to work effectively individually and in teams.
5) To have taken at least two out-of-field courses in their education programs
6) The ability to develop, select and use current and functional tools necessary for speech and language therapy field applications as well as the ability to use information technologies effectively.
7) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in Turkish, knowledge of at least one foreign language.
