Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: This course aims to teach the basic principles and applications of cognitive rehabilitation. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of brain structures and functions related to cognition and to introduce cognitive assessment and rehabilitation approaches in different neurological and psychiatric conditions. Basic cognitive processes such as attention, memory, executive functions, visual processing, as well as special cases such as apraxia and unilateral neglect will be covered. In addition, cognitive rehabilitation processes in various clinical conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, schizophrenia, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, cerebral palsy and old age will be evaluated.
Course Content: In this course, the basic concepts and models of cognitive rehabilitation will be examined first. Brain structures and functions related to cognition will be examined in detail, and evaluation of cognitive processes and intervention methods will be discussed. Theoretical and applied information on rehabilitation of basic cognitive skills such as attention, memory, executive functions and visual processing will be presented. Cognitive aspects and rehabilitation of neurological syndromes such as apraxia and unilateral neglect will be discussed. In addition, the place and methods of cognitive rehabilitation in neurological and psychiatric diseases will be emphasized. Within the scope of the course, case studies and evidence-based intervention approaches will be included, and students' clinical decision-making skills will be supported.

3) Explains the changes in cognitive functions in old age and the evaluation and rehabilitation methods used in this process.

Cognitive - Practical
1) Evaluates basic cognitive areas such as attention, memory, visual processing, apraxia, unilateral neglect and executive functions and determines rehabilitation approaches.
2) Evaluates cognitive impairments in stroke, traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and special syndromes and determines appropriate rehabilitation approaches.

2) Tells the laws, regulations and legislation regarding the professional duties, rights and responsibilities of the physiotherapist within the health system.
3) Determines and applies the needs of healthy, sick and disabled individuals with appropriate measurement and evaluation methods using the knowledge of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
4) Plans, implements, makes the necessary changes, terminates and reports the individual-centered physiotherapy and rehabilitation program within the ethical framework by analyzing and synthesizing the data obtained by field-specific evaluations.
