Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the biochemical foundations of cancer and focus on the role of cancer development, progression, and response to treatment. Students will be taught the roles of oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, cellular pathways, and molecular mechanisms in cancer development, leading to a comprehensive understanding of cancer biology. Additionally, biochemical perspectives on cancer diagnosis and treatment methods will also be discussed. |
Course Content: | This course aims to explore the biochemical foundations of cancer and the role of oncogenes. It will cover fundamental biochemical processes such as metabolic changes in cancer cells, the cell cycle, apoptosis, and genetic and epigenetic alterations. The role of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in cancer development, molecular pathways of cancer, and mechanisms of metastasis will be examined in detail. The course will also emphasize the significance of biochemical targets in cancer treatment, immunotherapies, and targeted therapies. |
