Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: To increase the knowledge, skills and awareness of the students by examining the basic concepts, issues and problems related to gender and disadvantaged groups in this context, in the light of literature, with an interactive method, and to ensure that they acquire literature analysis and discussion practice.
Course Content: Gender and conceptual framework, gender roles, women's movements and history in the world and in Turkey, women's human rights, international agreements on women's rights, gender inequalities at national and international levels (in areas such as health, education, working life, human rights, decision-making mechanism, politics, etc.), the effects of gender on reproductive and sexual health, violence against women, children, youth, elderly, LGBTI+, immigrants, disabled, etc. disadvantaged groups and domestic violence; affecting factors, causes and consequences, strategies to combat gender inequality, legal dimension and what needs to be done as an individual.
