Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to teach the properties, types, and interactions of biomaterials with cells in the body used in the medical field. |
Course Content: | Definition, history, and classification of biomaterials; Structure of metals, ceramics, polymers and composite biomaterials; Biocompatibility; corrosion and degradation of biomaterials; Biomaterial-cell interaction; Chemical, physical and mechanical properties of biomaterials; Biomaterials used in the field of medicine; Biomaterials used in tissue engineering; Current developments in the field of biomaterials |
