Course Objectives: |
This course covers the working area, scope and importance of interior architecture and environmental design profession, its relationship with engineering, architecture, art, design disciplines, mental and physical understanding of the environment-space-human trio, definition of interior space and physical elements, design in interior architecture. It aims to explain the stages of the process, the establishment of the relationship between the interior and the landscape, the use of communication and material technology with current design issues in a way that creates a basic and guiding framework for the students. |
Course Content: |
In this course, the concepts, terms and definitions to be used in interior architecture professional practice will be explained, and their relationship with other professional disciplines will be explained. Subjects such as form-function, ergonomics-anthropometry and design readings will be made on current examples and design processes will be examined. Topics to be taught during this course include; design thinking, history of the profession, spatial analysis, interior architect-user-employer relationship, human-environment relationship in design, landscape concept in interior space, materials and technology in interior architecture, communication technologies and development of presentation and expression techniques in design. The subjects will be handled from a multi-disciplinary perspective, and lecture flows will be provided through seminars, movie-video watching, museum-exhibition trips, book readings and examples. |
