Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to discuss theoretical approaches that explain parenting behaviors and the effects of these behaviors on children, and to examine recent research (conducted in the last 10 years) on these subjects. Topics include parental attitudes, father involvement, maternal gatekeeping, co-parenting, maternal sensitivity, and factors affecting these. Students are expected to present at least 10 articles of their choice on the subject(s) they choose in line with their interests and to prepare a review article to submit at the end of the semester.
Course Content: Throughout the course, parenting behaviors will be discussed in terms of different theoretical approaches, and the issues of what parenting behaviors should be for the optimal development of children and how this information can be used in the professional field in terms of preventive mental health will be discussed.
