Dersin Amaç ve İçeriği

Course Objectives: This course aims to introduce the basic principles, application areas and methods of cognitive rehabilitation. It is aimed to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge on how neuropsychological disorders and changes in cognitive functions are evaluated and rehabilitated. In addition, applications of cognitive rehabilitation in different age groups (children, adults, elderly) and different neurological disorders (dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, etc.) will be discussed.
Course Content: The following topics will be covered in this course:

Introduction to Cognitive Rehabilitation: Definition, history and basic concepts
Cognitive Functions and Neuropsychological Foundations: Memory, attention, executive functions, language and perception processes
Cognitive Rehabilitation Methods: Compensatory, restorative and adaptive approaches
Neuroplasticity and Cognitive Rehabilitation: The brain's healing capacity and neural reorganization
Neuropsychological Assessment: Tests and assessment methods that measure cognitive functions
Cognitive Rehabilitation in Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease
Cognitive Rehabilitation in Traumatic Brain Injury and Stroke
Cognitive Interventions in Psychiatric Disorders (Schizophrenia, Depression)
Technology Assisted Cognitive Rehabilitation: Virtual reality, artificial intelligence and digital therapies
Ethical and Cultural Dimensions in Cognitive Rehabilitation
