Course Objectives: | Learn the basic properties of nucleic acid molecules shaping the organism's genetic information, understanding the chromosomal organization and packaging in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, understanding the mechanism of DNA replication, learning the transcription and translation in gene expression in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms with comparison between the organisms, learning the basics of genetic code, Understanding the relationship between genotype and phenotype in prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, learning the regulation of gene expression with respect to cellular differentiation and environmental conditions, understanding the mechanims of gene expression before transcription, during initiation of transcription, and initiation of translation, comprehension of the properties and roles of regulatory proteins in the regulation of gene expression, evaluating the gene control levels during cell signalig, embriyonic development, cancer and human genetic diseases. |
