Course Objectives: | Strategic Management takes a holistic approach and intends to integrate the knowledge that has already been acquired in all of the previous courses in a business management program. The course tries to ensure the students with the necessary skills and ability in applying their accumulated knowledge to solve the strategic problems of organizations. The course has been designed to provide the students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of strategic management and managerial policy concepts, techniques and methodologies, to develop the necessary conceptual and analytical skills to collect and analyze data. By analyzing the data the students can make rational and strategic decisions, and to integrate and apply the knowledge has been learnt through their business administration education to deal with the complex business problems through case analyses. |
Course Content: | This course introduces the concept of strategic management through case analyses, and considers the basic direction and goals of an organization within its business environment. The course emphasizes the importance and the methods of strategic management. The students are expected to integrate and apply their prior learning to strategic decision making in organisations. The Strategic Management course is designed to explore an organisation’s vision, mission, core principles, techniques and models of organisational and environmental analysis; discuss the theory and practice of strategy formulation and implementation such as corporate governance and business ethics for the development of effective strategic leadership. In this course the students will learn long-term strategic planning and methods of implementing strategic decisions. |
